Engagement Bot

What is Engagement Bot?
An automated script that generates likes, follows, plays, or comments from accounts that are not real listeners.
Engagement Bot explained
An engagement bot is software that performs platform actions automatically, usually from a pool of fake or hijacked accounts. On SoundCloud these bots deliver likes, follows, reposts, or plays within minutes of purchase, which is exactly what makes them detectable. Real listening behaviour is spread across hours and days, arrives from consumer internet connections in many countries, and comes from accounts with a listening history. Bot activity clusters in time, originates from a small number of data centre address ranges, and comes from accounts with almost no history. Platforms compare those patterns and filter the engagement out. The numbers usually disappear within 24 to 72 hours, and repeated use puts the account at risk of a strike.
Why Engagement Bot matters for independent artists
Understanding Engagement Bot helps you make better promotion decisions on SoundCloud and other streaming platforms. On Reposter Network, artists apply concepts like this every day when they trade real plays, likes and reposts with other musicians instead of buying fake engagement.
