Follower Quality
Category: Music Marketing
What is Follower Quality?
How likely your followers are to actually listen, engage, and return for the next release.
Follower Quality explained
Follower quality is the difference between a number and an audience. A thousand followers who reliably play new uploads will outperform fifty thousand who never open the feed, both in reach and in every metric that platforms use for recommendation. Quality is visible in the ratio between followers and plays on a new upload, in whether engagement continues past the first day, and in whether the same names appear across releases. Purchased followers push the ratio in the wrong direction permanently, which is the hidden cost of buying them: the account looks bigger and performs worse.
Why Follower Quality matters for independent artists
Understanding Follower Quality helps you make better promotion decisions on SoundCloud and other streaming platforms. On Reposter Network, artists apply concepts like this every day when they trade real plays, likes and reposts with other musicians instead of buying fake engagement.
