Eligible Stream
Category: Soundcloud
What is Eligible Stream?
A play that passes a platform's integrity checks and therefore counts toward monetization and payouts.
Eligible Stream explained
An eligible stream is a play the platform is willing to pay for and count. It has to come from a real account, last long enough to register as genuine listening, and survive the fraud filters. On SoundCloud the monetization programme uses a threshold of 500 eligible streams, and only qualifying plays count toward it. This distinction explains why an artist can show tens of thousands of plays on a profile and still not qualify: purchased or automated plays are stripped from the eligible count even when the vanity number on the page stays high for a while.
Why Eligible Stream matters for independent artists
Understanding Eligible Stream helps you make better promotion decisions on SoundCloud and other streaming platforms. On Reposter Network, artists apply concepts like this every day when they trade real plays, likes and reposts with other musicians instead of buying fake engagement.
