Comment spam refers to comments that are generic, repeated across many unrelated tracks, or focused on promoting an outside link or account rather than responding to the music itself. Common examples include copy-pasted phrases dropped on dozens of tracks in a short space of time, comments that ask listeners to check another artist's profile with no reference to the track being commented on, or comments left by accounts that clearly have not listened to the audio. Comment spam tends to damage the reputation of the account posting it, since listeners and artists who spot the pattern are less likely to trust anything else that account does, and platforms that detect unusually repetitive commenting behaviour may restrict or flag the account responsible.
