An ISRC, or International Standard Recording Code, identifies one specific recording wherever it appears. Distributors issue one automatically when you release a track, and it stays with that recording for life, which is why a remaster or a different mix needs its own code while the same master uploaded to several platforms keeps one. The code is what allows streams on different services to be matched to the same recording for reporting and royalty collection. Keeping a record of the ISRCs for your catalogue saves considerable time later, particularly when registering works or resolving a claim.
